In words that have shaken Starbucks franchises to the core, Ericsson CMO Johan Bergendahl has characterized WiFi hot spots as becoming as irrelevant as telephone booths.

With mobile broadband growing faster than mobile of fixed telephony in a few years HSPA “will be as common as WiFi is today,” he said.

While there are some obstacles to negotiate between there and now such as price, coverage and availability and the competition from companies such as Meraki that intend to blanket entire cities in WiFi, the indications are that your Mocha WiFi breakfast may soon be a thing of the past.

Wifi will not become as irrelevant as the phone since wifi is not as personal as the phone. Id rather use wifi rather than my personal broadband, if im satisfied with the speed.
