Telus and Bell Consider GSM Technology

The 3G iPhone has lit a fire under Canadas carriers with Bell and Telus said to be considering a move to GSM technology.

The news comes as music to the ears of Canadians consumers who have had see-soaring fortunes with the lone provider of 3G and GSM (with partner Fido) within Canada.

The question now is whether the projected cost of such an update, between $360-480 million will entice the carriers to jump into WCDMA or HSPA technology to compete for flashier, higher functioning handsets or leapfrog to LTE 4G technology.

We will keep you posted on developments Canucks.
