It is 2009 and we declare it the year of the touch screen. People are clamoring to keep up with the waves the Apple iPhone 3G have already made and the latest line to jump on board is Sony Ericsson.

At the Mobile World conference this weekend Sony Ericsson announced several new phones that are scheduled for release later this year. The phone that has been making the most noise however is the “Idou“. This is currently the code-name for Sony Ericsson’s first full touch screen phone slated to be released in the second half of 2009.

Here are some of the features that have really caught our eye:

• 12.1 Megapixel camera (!!)
• Beautiful 3.5 inch full touch screen interface
• Symbian S60 open source OS
• Accelerometer

Details are still sparse at this point, but we imagine more press releases concerning the model are bound to leak out soon.
