Gone are the days when telephones were the domain of doe-eyed star-crossed lovers whispering sweet nothings - the cellphone has becomes such a crucial mechanism of communication that hot on the heels of US authorities announcing they will co-ordinate SMS alerts in times of emergency Sony Ericsson has announced a partnership to provide Telemedicine across India.

Using their HSPA technology in conjunction with the ATNF the Swedish communications giant aim to give instant medical advice to the over 1 million patients that die each year in India as a result of limited access to medical advise.
