Polaroid Goes Digital, Instant Mobile Prints

Many an illicit moment has been captured by Polaroid’s instantly gratifying take-and-shake one-of-a-kind photos, but they’re history right? Wrong. Polaroid instant images are back and coming to a mobile phone near you.
Taking advantage of a combination of heat sensitive paper, Bluetooth connectivity and sheer hedonism, Polaroid hopes to tap into a largely uncatered for market that will take an estimated 478 billion photographs in 2008.
Amateur photographers can take a picture on their cellphone and send it to the pocket sized printer and within 30 seconds they will get a business card sized photograph with adhesive backing that’s dry to the touch - no shaking required and, unfortunately for the romantics, no borders.
While Outkast may be somewhat dismayed the new wave of Polaroid technology will be a boon for those looking to update on their 80’s technology with the new prints costing 33-40cents a print compared with the $1 prints with which we’d become accustomed.
