Need Concept Phone

With the growing convergence of mobile devices one designer at least felt that the purpose of the phone was being lost, namely communication.
The Need Concept phone is his response. A communication only device with no mp3, 3G, video, GPS, camera or add-ons.
What do you think - have phones ceased being about communication?
