Just like Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is a windows mobile 6.5 inspired smartphone that includes a new feature called SlideView. This unique feature gives you a quick access to your frequently used phone activities and will also notify you of all missed events , messages and e-mails which is very helpful for busy people. Fortunately, X2 will be available in 3 different versions- Europe, Asia and U.S. and is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year. Still no word on pricing though.
CEO Dick Komiyama will step down from his post on October 15 to give way to the new Sony Ericsson president, 53 year old Bert Nordberg, presently in charge of LM Ericsson’s broadband and IP division in Silicon Valley. He and Komiyama will work in tandem starting September 1 until October 15. Komiyama however will not leave just yet, he plans to stay with Sony Ericsson as an advisor until the end of 2009 before he retires. This major change aims at renewing sales of Sony Ericsson’s handsets as well as launching new interesting models like Satio with a 12.1MP camera and an Android powered handset known as “Rachel”. We expect to see Sony Ericsson having an improved focus on mobile entertainment services over the next few quarters, said Neil Mawston, an analyst in London at Strategy Analytics.
It’s official! The much awaited Sony Ericsson Jalou will soon be hitting the market sometime on the fourth quarter of this year. A luxurious mobile inspired by a jewel-like design in 3 attractive gem colors; Onyx Black, Aquamarine Blue and Deep Amethyst. It will also come with a special limited Dolce&Gabbana-branded edition in Sparkling Rose with D&G headphones. It will function the same way and have similar features like 3.2MP camera with video recording, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, and a music player as a regular Jalou, but what makes it special is the 24 carat gold plating. Now this is something that will surely impress even the most meticulous fashion critic.
It seems like Sony Ericsson is catching up with the Symbian phone legacy. The mania for a full touch screen phone inspired the “unofficial” debut of this model. Meet the Sony Ericsson Jalou. With 3” touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, a built in WiFi and a GPS receiver that would definitely get consumers fancying to get their hands on this masterpiece. Whether it proves to be a replica of it’s sibling Satio or W995, it’s gaining popularity among the many fans of Sony Ericsson. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that Sony will live up to test.
We’ve said before and we’ll say it again: Times are tough for everyone. That includes phone manufacturers.
Sony Ericsson released their Q2 report and things were not looking rosy. In almost all of the major stats the company saw losses. The amount of units shipped was down 5% compared to the last quarter and they are taking steps to eliminate 2,350 workers throughout the whole company.
On maybe the sole bright side for the company their Average Selling Price rose which brought up their higher gross margin, but from the talk of the SE accountants they are going to need a lot more than that.
With Apple, the Palm Pre and HTC’s continuing Android OS series the market is getting tougher and tougher. Sony Ericsson currently have three major titles in the upcoming months, the Satio, Aino and Yari. They are hoping to take back some of their market share with these titles.
In the meantime it looks like SE needs some innovation to bring them back into play. Any ideas people?
It was only two days ago that we saw the first photos of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael and now we can already confirm that it is really in the works. What’s more we have also seen the leaked video of the UI in demonstration. This sleek looking new addition to Sony’s range will wear the Xperia tag will be the first to run on as an Android phone.
In this age of full compatibility where we can use our Blackberrys as stereo remotes and have our Apple iPhone open our curtains, Sony Ericsson is stepping into the game with the Aino.
This fully packed slider phone has the unique ability to be able to communicate with Playstation 3 devices. Unfortunately gaming is not yet available between the device and the PS3, but the fact that Sony is taking this route must be an indication that it could be in the cards. However, currently the Aino will be able to sync music, videos, photos and other media from the PS3.
In addition to that neat feature the phone is also going to be 3G capable, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a none-too-shabby 3 inch screen. The phone will also be featuring an 8.1 Megapixel camera, which is quickly becoming the industry standard for camera phones as a new generation of 12 MP camera phones are starting to hit the market.
So get gaming and get calling! Let us know what you think. Is this going to make a difference in your phone shopping or are you an XBox 360 fan anyway?
All you Sony Ericsson fans out there may have a date to mark on your calendars. A Sony Ericsson representative has been heard stating that the Idou is most likely going to be available for sale in October with a possible back-up date in November.
How did we hear about this? We’ve heard it through the grapevine and are passing it along. The source originated with the Swedish mobile site mobile.se and comes to us through Boy Genius reports. All reputable sources who we hope are telling the truth.
The Sony Ericsson Idou has been a hot topic ever since it was previewed at the CTIA earlier this year. The phone is going to pack a whoppingly powerful 12 MP camera, the Symbiansmartphone OS and much much more.
