Adobe Flash on iPhone Mockup

Word yesterday that Microsoft had bitten the bullet and paid licensing to have Flash available on Windows Mobile has been trumpted today by news the animation software will be coming to the iPhone.

Following comments by Steve Jobs that current versions of Adobe’s Flash software are unworkable on the iPhone Adobe’s Chief Executive Shantanu Narayen has confirmed the upcoming availability of a Flash Player for the iPhone.

In recent comments the Adobe head said “We believe Flash is synonymous with the Internet experience, and we are committed to bringing Flash to the iPhone.” He went on to say “We have evaluated [the SDK] and we think we can develop an iPhone Flash player ourselves.”
Jobs suggestion that “the cellphone version of Flash isn’t functional enough,” and “there’s this missing product in the middle [for the iPhone]” will see his words reach fruition with the planned release to be available through the iTunes App Store.

Now we wait.
