Customer Service showdown among the “big 4″

the-big-4.JPG

To know which among the big four (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T) can provide the best quality customer service, a showdown was conducted by the kids at Laptop Magazine to identify which ranks the highest in terms of each company’s friendliness, knowledge, and timeliness.T-Mobile wins the contest with an overall score of  A- by answering all of the questions and offering the best web support. Both Sprint and Verizon on the other hand got a score of B; although Sprint was not able to answer all the questions, it was very organized and considerate. Verizon however, offered solid support yet not as friendly as the other 3. Surprisingly, last on the list was at&t with an ending score of C+ and this is because the representative couldn’t figure out how to get email up and running on its Blackberry.

With iPhone’s augmented reality app, you’ll never get lost again

bionic.JPG

Augmented reality on the iPhone is gaining popularity but no other app can compare to the Bionic Eye. It was created by presselite and this app works by using the iPhone’s camera bring the area you are in alive like never before. Bionic Eye comes in handy when locating certain establishments as it conveniently tells you where the nearest underground access is or where the nearest fast-food chain can be found, all these with 360 degree functionality. If you try pointing your iPhone to the ground a blue arrow will appear which will direct you by pointing the way to your preferred destination and telling you the estimated distance from where you currently are going to your destination of choice. The Bionic Eye app is now available in app stores and works in the UK, the US, France and Tokyo.

2009 ban decreases in-vehicle texting in California

california-texting-ban.jpg

Taking your eyes away from the road for a mere second while driving put yours, your passengers’ and the innocent bystanders’ lives in grave danger. Texting or even placing phone calls while driving is very risky whether or not you try your best to keep your eyes on the road as it takes the driver’s focus away from the road for an average of 4.6 seconds. Thankfully, the Automobile Club of Southern California came up with an idea to implement a texting ban and surprisingly, it lessened the number of drivers dangerously texting while driving by up to 70%! Moral of the story: There is no text message or phone call urgent enough to cause you your life. Be safe and exercise caution while driving and using a cell phone. If it is very important, pull over for a few minutes and this could prevent deaths that are pretty much avoidable.

iWood, another unique concept for iPhone case

wood.JPG

We have seen a lot of different, sometimes bizarre ideas for iPhone casings. From cardboard to a casing with backpocket and now…. wood? Unlike the 2 (which were designed by case-mate) this one is made by Vers. A new in line of wooden iPhone cases. Unlike the former design which they called the iWood iPhone case, this one has a special cut-out and a window on the backside of the case which makes it easier to slide the iPhone of the case and luckily enough, the casing also has a scratch-resistant lining and you can get this in as low as $40. The case is made from US hardwood and bamboo, reinforced with steel pins which prevents moisture build-up and protects it from UV. For the environmentalists out there, no need to feel guilty about buying one because for your precious iPhone because Vers plants 100 trees for every tree it uses for making the wooden case.via intomobile

HTC Pure, the next Touch Diamond2?

htc-pure.JPG

Among the random leaked yet unofficial mobile handsets that were announced last month, HTC Pure was mentioned on the list. Just recently, 2 photos of the said mobile phone were leaked; one in silicon, and one in garish plastic but both in magenta. So far, the only spec mentioned was the 5 megapixel camera that the phone will have and was said to be intended for at&t and will be the next Touch Diamond2. This has obviously had a modification in terms of design as compared to its predecessor but no information has yet been given as to when it will be released and how much it would cost.

MH907 Headset from Sony Ericsson, has the first ever motion-controlled technology

mh970.JPG

A special headset has recently been released by Sony Ericsson and it was named MH907. It is the first ever motion-controlled headset available in the market and no buttons are necessary to operate it. It uses a SensMe technology which identifies if the user wants to place or receive a call. Basically, how it works is if you want to listen to music just plug in both earbud then the music starts automatically. If you want to take a call just remove one of the earbuds it means that you are going to take a call, if you remove both the earbuds then the music stops completely. However fascinating this device is, it is only compatible with Sony Ericsson devices.

The awaited LG BL20 and GW300 will come in various attractive colors

lg-2.JPG

When LG opened its new office in Amstelveen,  it was to announce its new showroom for public release. The upcoming LG BL20 New Chocolate is gaining popularity not just because of the attractive color variants it currently offers but also because the BL20 has been reported to appear significantly fast that you literally fly through the menu. Although it runs a non-touch version of the S-Class user interface it is reportedly much smoother on the BL20 than it was on the LG Crystal. Aside from this LG also surprised us with its new GW300. It has a full QWERTY keyboard, 2MP camera, microSD card slot and 3.5 mm audio jack. It will come in  3 colors so far; blue, pink and gray with more variants to look forward to. No official release dates has been announced yet by LG
