The $100 Million fund set-up in March to encourage development of applications for the
iPhone has finally starting doling out some cash with two new apps taking advantage Whrrl and iControl.
Whrrl is a social mapping service that takes web 2.0 to your
Apple and lets users rate events, entertainment and restaurants, the other iControl turns your iPhone into a multi-purpose device taking care of of all the nitty gritty of appliance control, light, sound and what have you.
Having received innumerable proposals the iFund still only has two new competition crushing apps being funded - but really what’s the rush?

There may be no shortage of
3G iPhone rumors but latest speculation suggest the new Jesus-phone will feature
GPS.
According to reports a combination of FCC requirements and the recent acquisition of Global Locate by Broadcom may have created the perfect storm for your navigational requirements.
At this stage it is unclear whether the chip-set used will allow door-to-door direction-finding or whether it will simply relay location in case of emergencies but as the company has already produced A-GPS solutions the possibility is certainly there.
Apple has declined to comment.

Like catching the abominable snowman on celluloid, early peeks at the
XPERIA X1 have been known to create rumours and spark heated debate.
Now that the
HTC Touch Diamond has hit the market the next two phones to watch for are the
3G iPhone expected June 9th announcement and of course the
Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 but are these latest pictures enough to keep everyone going until the expected September release?
The latest pics show the Steel Silver color a new panel key and some additional branding but where oh where is the buy now button?
