While many pundits have long suggested that the ban on cell phones onboard aircraft was more to with traveller comfort than malfunctioning navigation equipment it has taken until now for Ofcom to give calling a tentative thumbs up.
The technology will use an onboard pico cell that will allow communications via satellite once activated at 10,000 feet.
While this technology will require further checks from the European Aviation safety Agency for approval its no doubt a shoe-in with the prospect of obnoxious passengers trading ‘I miss you more schmoopy’ conversations coming to a context near you.

All those late lunches have had their effect on LG’s master marketeers producing the KG800 Chocolate and now they’re back with the Ice Cream phone.
Now before you start getting all excited about the prospect of some battery-licking buzz be advised the Ice Cream gimmick stats and ends at the Pistachio, Strawberry and Vanilla er…flavors.
If that’s enough to whet your appetite, and why not, the phone features 3G, video calling, 2 megapixel, email support LED lighting, and electronic dictionary.

Those expecting a lot from HTC Manilla will be disappointed at news that ‘Manilla’ is essentially a customized interface that straddles WinMo 6.1 Professional OS.
Manilla covers more applications than TouchFLO, whilst not technically being Touch FLO 2.0 - so what gives?
Is it the beginning of a standard interface for the X7510? Fingers crossed.

With Motorola taking a CIA-esque ‘neither confirm nor deny’ stance on the Motorola A1600 Ming its left to us the citizen reporters to ready a salivating public for its forthcoming debut.
Leaked photos indicate the much awaited and speculated offspring of the the A1200 shares more than the family name with its Clamshell brethren. The MOTOMING2 is not only another clamshell but another quadband - but the CPU has apparently improved from its predecessor.
So Motorola continues to avoid announcement and suggestions its available already in China, for now we’ll have to settle for photos of the phone and sneak peeks of the Linux UI.
