The greener cell phone - LINC

LINC cell phone a Greener iPhone I say. It includes all the connectivity and features any touch screen smartphone has; media player, a web browser, GPS, downloadable content, Bluetooth, wifi, the latest 3G network. But here’s the catch. LINC is leased to the user as a service, not a product. The user holds on to the device for about a year, and when the next generation of hardware comes along, the user receives a new LINC in the mail. The LINCs inform the user of their hardware upgrade, wirelessly transfer the digital account, and before being shipped back to the manufacturer, LINC informs the user of the next part of its journey.

The greener gadget - LINC

The device contains valuable materials like aluminum, glass, and electronic components that the producer can harvest for re-use. Typically, mobile phones contain hazardous waste that goes into a landfill or are left in a desk drawer to sit in.

Greener gadgets

LINC is designed for automated disassembly. A directed radiant heat beam targets its internal memory metal latch, releasing the assembly. In one step, LINC automatically disassembles into its few simple components, glass, aluminum and its circuit flex. The glass and aluminum, not containing any paints or adhesives, are easily recycled to pure grade materials for immediate reuse

Levis The Original Demin Phone

Levis Original Denim Phone

There was a time in the 80’s when you couldn’t move in a laundromat for the de-trousering Levi’s guys, now Levi’s is bringing its “all-that-is-man” image to your back pocket with their Denim-inspired phone.

Not only do the texture and rivets on the phone connote the denim that made the company synonomous with the everyman but they also make for a stunningly unique design reminiscent of the Nokia 7900 Prism.

Not just here for its good-looks and the reeking machismo the Original manages to pack in 2.0-megapixel camera with multi-shoot and auto-timer, MPEG4 and 3GP (H.263) video, Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP, MP3 player and FM receiver.

LG KF310 and KF240 Leaked Pictures

LG KF310 Photos

We had expected the KF240 to be unleashed at CeBIT but it’s stable-mate the KF310 is a surprise.

While LG has held back on announcements of the new fashion phones in Hanover the similar looking 97×48×17mm, 102g sliders will most likely be made public at CTIA Wireless on April 1-3.

Th major difference appears to be that one phone sports a 1.3 megapixel camera, the other a 2 megapixel camera but otherwise both share Bluetooth, MP3 player software and the microSD memory card slot.

Mooon Concept Phones Detachable Headset

Mooon+ Concept Phone Photos

If you find lugging around your Bluetooth headset unsightly or just annoying, you will be happy to know there’s an alternative the Mooon+ concept cell phone.

Allowing you to detach your headset from your phone as and when you need it the concept phone finds a unique solution to an ongoing problem.

Apart from this innovation the phone itself is rather dapper and features a large screen with Touch UI. Will leading manufacturer’s pick up where this concept left off? Samsung did file a similar patent in September 2007 so it may be sooner rather than later.

Sony Ericsson PSP Phone Patent

Sony PSP Phone Patent Diagram

The internet has had heard rumor after rumor of the Sony Ericsson PSP phone, but is this recent patent the beginning of its step from rumor to reality?

It’s no secret that Sony wants in on the mobile gaming market or that gaming fans are longing for the PSP phone to be outed, but will this Gameboy looking patent be the one?

The patent comes with iPhone-esque “Orientation based multiple mode mechanically vibrated touchscreen display” and inside accelerometer and haptics feedback allowing easy morph from phone to games station.

If the indications here are true game-play wouldn’t require buttons but touchscreen gaming is bound to make a smudgy grease stained mess of your phone’s display.
