The latest rumors on Apple’s iphone price-drop has been answered by the adoption of a new, less expensive, taiwanese touchscreen technology. According to sources,  Taiwan display specialist AU Optronics and their partner firm, Cando, have developed this integrated touchscreen display that costs around 40% less to produce than Apple’s current shipments.  There is no official word that this new technology will be implemented into existing touchscreen handsets today.
