Video Phone Breathalyzer Test

Breathalyzer Image

American drink drivers fear not! NTT DoCoMo’s new Videophone Alcohol Check System that enables companies to easily monitor drivers in the field will not be launched stateside.

Using the video phone capability the breathalyzer test is able to confirm the identity of the person taking the test and transmit alcohol concentrations back to HQ.

Moral of the story if you are going to drink and drive, at least take a photo of yourself blowing on the breathalyzer sober first. Oh and try not to look like that guy, it’s a bit of a giveaway.

Samsung Patent 3D Holographic Display Phone

Samsung 3D Holographic Phone Display Patent

Circa 1985 with a pre-Parkinson’s Michael J Fox as the swashbuckling Marty McFly we dared to believe in not to distant future of Hoverboards, time travel and endless Jaws sequels. Whilst a lot has changed since then, not least of all Michael, our thirst for the future remains unsatiated - enter 3D holographic phones from Samsung.

That’s right kids you to can travel back to the future, or is that forward to the past, with the newly patented technology that will create 3D optical display minus the kinda funky coloured-lens glasses.

I COULD explain the mind-boggling sceintific advances but I will let Samsung give you the low down, or down low, in their own words:
“Although it has been assumed in the above description that the panel-type waveguide according to the present invention is used as a screen, on which source images emitted by the optical unit are two-dimensionally displayed, the panel-type waveguide may be replaced with a three-dimensional hologram screen so that source images emitted by the optical unit are three-dimensionally displayed on a plane spaced from the hologram screen by a predetermined distance.”

Sony Patent Cell Phone Pico Projector

Sony Ericsson Pico-projector Patent Application

By the looks of this patent application Sony Ericsson has big plans involving self-adjusting image projectors in cellphones.

The patent outlines a pico-projector that uses an onboard camera to analyze the projected image and make adjustments to intensify beams if required, to create the ideal result.

Tres cool. But when is it out? How will cellphone batteries of today deal with the projecting needs of tomorrow. Time will tell.

Featuring a sliding glass keyboard and a full touch screen display, questions of functionality fall in to the shadows as you start wondering whether you need to dress up to take this glossy black high-fashion phone from your pocket.

Whilst no door will remain unopened for this sexy smooth-talker one wonders whether Samsung Armani and LG Prada will be left in the cold.

Blood Fueled Tattoo Phone Concept

Bluetooth Tattoo Phone Concept

Are you always losing your phone? Why not get a blood powered tattoo phone?

Jim Mielke has come up with a novel solution that pushes the boundaries of Bluetooth technology and good taste.

The Digital Tattoo Interface is invisible when not in use and is activated by pushing a small dot on your arm. The tattoo includes video display, callerID and numeric keypad and once a call is complete you simply push the same activation button and it vanishes once more.

The phone is powered by a coin-sized blood fuel cell that contains a glucose and oxygen converter and is implanted directly into your arm. So when your phone carrier isn’t bleeding you dry at least your phone is chipping in.

When not being used for its phone capability the implant also monitors your health and well being, probably quite handy given that you have just tattooed a phone on your arm.
